Sailing the San Blas Islands offers a breathtaking experience, but it requires both expert crew and careful planning due to the challenging conditions. Unlike other popular Caribbean destinations, bareboat charters are not allowed in San Blas because of uncharted waters, hidden reefs, and a lack of reliable marine infrastructure such as marinas and supply stores. The more than 365 islands are often surrounded by coral reefs, making navigation risky without local knowledge.
