It was two years ago in May. I was teaching an instructional passage, and we were in Bermuda waiting for weather to allow us to continue north to Newport. Of course, we knew that the America’s Cup was happening. Still, the absolute mind-boggling spectacle of seeing those boats…..doing that! As we entered the outer bay near Hamilton, there, right in front of us, was Oracle, sitting in the water, getting coached up by her chase boats. Now not more than 40-50 yards away, the crew trimmed in the wing sail. The boat lurched a little, started moving….then bam! Like the Starship Enterprise in the Star Trek movies, it popped up, onto its’ foils, and was off at nearly 40 knots. Warp speed Scotty!
Wait a sec - an Epic, that's designed for fishing? You bet. This is a bay boat that comes with all the prerequisite features, like a livewell, aft jump seats that fold into a casting deck, rod holders, and more. Sure, this builder is known for building watersports and wakeboarding boats - not fishing machines. But since it's an Epic, it has a few unusual characteristics you don't usually see on boats designed for the hook-set. Check out the video, and if you want more information, then visit Epic. Don't forget to watch on boats.com, too, because we'll have an in-depth review of this boat coming soon. http://features.boats.com/boat-content/2013/11/epic-22-sc-first-look-video/ For more boat videos, visit www.boats.com.
