VHF (Very High Frequency) radio is line-of-sight because its short wavelengths travel in straight paths and cannot follow the curve of the Earth or pass through solid physical blocks. VHF frequencies range from 30 MHz to 300 MHz, meaning their wavelengths are relatively short (about 1 to 10 meters). Unlike low-frequency radio waves, short waves do not bounce off the ionosphere or easily diffract around large obstacles.
