► A not-to-be-missed event for boating enthusiasts on the U.S. East Coast, the Annapolis Boat Shows attract some 100,000 visitors every year. The event is in fact two separate boat shows held in the same spot, but a week apart. The Powerboat Show, dedicated just to powerboats (417 units on display), was held from October 3 to 6, followed by the Sailboat Show from October 10 to 14. It’s the latter of the two that we’ve selected for you. The event provided an opportunity to take stock of how the multihull sector is taking hold in the United States: we counted 56 two- or three-hull units compared with 96 monohulls, totaling nearly 30% of the offer. Our first sail on Moments in Time alone, with no agenda to follow. We sailed across the Chesapeake Bay in the cloudy skies and spitting rain. We changed course and decided to head up the Patuxent River in the dying winds and made it to St. Leonard Creek sailing at 2.5 knots in a 4-5 knot zephyr. We dropped anchored in St. John’s Creek, christened Moments in Time with some champaign and celebrated our 39th anniversary with a nice meal that was cooked on the Seawind 1260 cockpit grill.
