Season 2 of Wave Rover starts off with a Huge announcement! I'm building a new boat. Wave Rover Hull #1 is a brand new 21foot pocket cruiser. Designed by an naval architect to comfortably circumnavigate the world, and yet, be built by the average person in a residential garage/shed. Design ideas that I have thought about over my many ocean voyages, both large and small, have been included in this design. The reason for the 2 different Displacement numbers: 2350lbs light boat; 2950 long range cruising( fully loaded with supplies for a 60 day voyage). I will build her over the next 18 months. We’ve officially hauled Sabado out of the water at Port Whangarei Marine Center in New Zealand, and the refit has begun! In our latest video, we take you through a day in our new routine: starting the morning at our rental house, commuting to the boatyard, and diving into our first big boat projects. We kick things off by tearing apart our bed to prep for a major power system upgrade. We also give you a tour of the yard facilities, and remove our cockpit fridge to make way for a new one. It’s a strange feeling seeing the boat on land with empty cabinets, but we’re excited (and a little nervous) about what’s ahead.
