As always the Cork 1720's were out in force for Volvo Cork Week 2024 this orange kite followed Going to Red the majority of the way down the run after rounding the top mark With over 100 boats on the start line everyone was fighting for air shortly after the start, with the tide coming in all day it paid to get right early to find both clear air and some relief from the stronger tide out in the main channel. On the way back in the trick was to find the deepest part of the channel to ensure you were in maximum tide to increase your speed over ground. AThe 25-knot north winds are finally letting up, and it’s time to move. Tomorrow, we leave Bimini aboard our Island Packet 320, Salty Abandon, and begin crossing the Great Bahama Bank. The plan is to work our way toward the Northwest Channel, then cross the Tongue of the Ocean to the west end of New Providence Island. From there, we’ll continue on to Highborn Cay and into the Exhumas. Sailing plans are always subject to change—but that’s the route for now. #bahamas #sailing #exumas #greatbahamabank #saltyabandon
