Bowline. Pinch and Twist (Mariner's) method. #katknots ▫️ More knots at kats.co/kts or click our profile link and head to the footer links. ▫️ This is a great quick way of tying a bowline. You can even do this one handed. ▫️ Before you start, just take a minute to see how the line is arranged. Then do it the same every time. In this example, the standing end and working end are running away from you. Say if you were on the dock tying up your tender. ▫️ The working (loose end) is on my right and I lay it over the standing end. Then I pinch the join with my right hand and twist clockwise and do a thumbs up 👍🏽 so the rope end pops up through the loop you have made. Practise this a few times. ▫️ Then finish off as usual, round the tree, back down the hole. Easy! Make sure the working end lies on the inside of the loop (come around the tree right to left in this example). So many are talking to us about how to become eco-friendly sailors. In this video Mahina gives you a great place to start and some other small tips. =========================== TRANSCRIPT Now this is a question for all of the sailors out there all of the charterers out there who want to be eco-friendly but want to know where do we start. My answer is, cleaning products! Sometimes these are provided by charter companies sometimes they're not. And it's a great way to take control and start being eco-friendly through the cleaning products that you're buying. I really like NatureSafe Marine. They're made here in Croatia by actually a friend of ours. They provide products like dishwashing soap, all-purpose spray, even hand soap. Because of course the runoff of all of those goes straight into the sea. Stay ahead of the curve and set sail with peace of mind! =========================== TRANSCRIPT So the best way to tie your plank on so you don't stub your toes and it doesn't fall off and it doesn't look crap. And it's easy! .... Around the bottom with this line and then around the stanchion and then on. Then we're gonna go around the top under itself and it's cinching around. So now you're pulling here and you're pulling here it's holding it up off the deck and it's holding it firm in two spots. Tie around here with a half inch on a bite. Same at the bottom end here. I'm going to go around the base of the stanchion and under the board again. Around the top. And tie it with a clove hitch on a bite. Just like that! Finish it with another one if you want it nice and secure. The water will run down and your toes will not stub on the underside of there.
