They were here long before us. Will they still be here after? From the silent glide of manta rays to the elusive songs of whales, Indonesia’s oceans are home to creatures whose existence is quietly slipping away. This #EndangeredSpeciesDay, let’s not take their beauty for granted. Let’s protect what cannot speak for itself. 🌊 Dive with purpose. Hairy conditions on Thursday of Cowes Week which was also the third day of the XOD Centenary regatta. We're aboard XOD Class Captain William Norris's Beatrix with Vernon Nock (64) in the front of the boat and International Foiling Moth sailor (!) Peter Barton on the helm. William couldn't be aboard that day because he was on the Royal Yacht Squadron Platform with the Princess Royal who fired the starting cannon for this special race. In his place was Yachting World editor David Glenn. Unfortunately Beatrix was OCS which was apparently made clear to William Norris by the Princess Royal as the sail numbers were duly called out. We hope he didn't lay the blame too firmly at YW's doorstep! Despite the hiccup it was a truly great day's racing followed by a superb Centenary dinner party for 400 back in Cowes.

My radar fell off whilst sailing to the canaries, due to small rivets applied by pochon a sub contractor of the neel shipyard. This in turn required new cabling in the mast. One way or another the piping that holds the cables became buggered and then needed the mast to come off. I'm offering a no bull review of living with a new neel 51....i should mention to date that whenever there's a problem I do my absolute best to fix it myself. I'm rewarded by mostly arrogance from the shipyard or their sub contractors. Marina fees start to escalate while incompetence and arrogance remain at an all time high. This is typical of a La rochelle built boat i have been told. Thanks god the space and performance are good..... Since receiving the boat in August I have never been reimbursed for any money I spent on warranty repairs.
