This Rogue was built by a luthier as the "just-right" size amongst John Welsford's many capable camp cruising sailboat designs. Here it sails in Puget Sound with other participants in the 2019 Salish 100 Small Boat Cruise. Off Center Harbor is an online destination for great boats, stories, and boating skills: www.offcenterharbor.com/yt-1910/ The Rogue is 14'7" long with a 4'5" beam, rigged here as a yawl with a leeboard but capable of diverse rigging configurations. Planned overnight stops along the route included Hope Island Marine State Park, Penrose Point Marine State Park, Gig Harbor, Blake Island Marine State Park, the Port of Kingston, and Mats Mats Bay before reaching our final destination in Port Townsend. Drop anchor in Nice as the first light hits the terracotta rooftops. Church bells echo as the scent of fresh bread drifts from the boulangeries lining the quay. This is the beauty of anchoring in harbour in the South of France. Step ashore for morning coffee on Cours Saleya. Wander through market stalls brimming with sun ripened tomatoes, lavender, and local olives. Return to your yacht for a swim in clear blue water before lunch beneath the awning, chilled rosé in hand. As the afternoons unfold, take a walk along the Promenade des Anglais, or simply watch the city hum with life around you. As evening falls, the harbour glows. Music drifts from nearby terraces. The lights of the Old Town shimmer on the water. On the Côte d’Azur, anchoring in port offers a seamless blend of privacy and true immersion in the South of France, before cruising to your next stunning destination.
