Sailing out of Malta was supposed to be simple… until we realized we’d broken all three classic sailing rules in one go. Leaving on a Friday, bringing bananas on board, and, yes… supposedly no women on departure day. Do sailors still believe this stuff? Who knows — but it made for one unforgettable exit from Malta. 9.8 knots yesterday afternoon while out sailing on this vintage sailboat! I know many of you have been much faster on a sailboat, but this was my fastest ever. The beautiful, long lines on this 43 foot 1963 Sparkman and Stephens helped get us up to speed. We were blowing past other boats! 😄 If two sailboats are going in the same direction, it's a race!
