Die Rurtalsperre Schwammenauel ist eine 77,4 m hohe und seit 1938 existierende Talsperre im Südwesten von Nordrhein-Westfalen im äußersten Westen Deutschlands. Sie staut die Rur im Grenzgebiet zwischen der Städteregion Aachen und dem Kreis Düren zum 7,83 km² großen Rurstausee auf (im Volksmund auch Rursee genannt). Der durch die Rurtalsperre Schwammenauel aufgestaute Rurstausee hat mit den Vorsperren Obersee und Eiserbach ein Volumen von 203,2 Mio. m³ Stauraum und ist, nach dem Bleilochstausee in Thüringen und vor dem Edersee in Hessen, der volumenmäßig zweitgrößte Stausee Deutschlands. Die Rurtalsperre Schwammenauel und der Rurstausee gehören zum Wasserverband Eifel-Rur.
