There's no playbook that we're following, and while we've put tons of time and research into designing all our systems, you can't fight reality. Just because everything "should" work doesn't mean it will. And in this week's episode we hit one of our first snags in our propulsion system. We've been getting a lot of questions around the complexity of some of our systems, and I think this is a great example of what that looks like in reality. We actually love this process, and we enjoy the challenge and the problem solving. We're trying to pull off some pretty ambitious stuff, and when it works, there's no greater feeling. And when it doesn't work, well that just means it's time to try something different. The build is definitely more about the journey than the destination, and obstacles like this are what's gonna help us build an even better boat than we could have imagined! A Humpback whale sings then breaches close enough for Nicole to feel the splash! Nicole filmed this while swimming in the open ocean near Moorea, French Polynesia (by Tahiti). Nothing to do with sailing but too good not to share with you right away... By the way, we were being guided by a whale expert who ensured we did not impact the whale in any way. Before this encounter we swam some distance away from a boat that was drifting with it's engine off, then allowed the whale to approach us (or not) on his own terms. The spring is here ! All over Greece, you can feel the weather changing and temperature rise! We could not recommend this experience more if you have time in Athens, especially the afternoon trip since we got to watch the sunset!
