This is the fourth time the Volvo Ocean Race will start from Alicante Alicante will welcome the world for the start of the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18 when the Race Village opens on October 11. Home to just short of half a million people, it’s the fourth time Alicante has opened the action, and the third since the race set up its permanent HQ in the port. The start of the longest professional sporting event in the world brings people from far and wide to explore the Alicante Race Village, see the iconic Volvo Ocean 65 boats first hand and even, if you’re lucky, bump into the sailors are they prepare themselves for battle.MAPFRE draw first blood in 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race. It was a comprehensive victory for the Spanish team in the MAPFRE In-Port Race Alicante. The local heroes on Xabi Fernández's MAPFRE were a popular winner in the first point scoring race of the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race.

Über 3 Jahre reisen wir schon mit unseren beiden Kinder Vollzeit durch die Welt. Wir haben uns gegen den Bau eines Eigenheims entschieden und haben uns lieber ein 20 Jahre altes Wohnmobil gekauft. 2019 haben wir all unser Hab und Gut in Deutschland verkauft, unsere sicheren Jobs gekündigt und sind losgezogen. Mit unserem Wohnmobil hatten wir eine aufregende Zeit. Immer der Sonne hinterher und immer am Meer entlang. Im April diesen Jahres haben wir dann Asphalt gegen Wasserstraßen getauscht. Nun segeln und leben wir auf unserer Stellar und sind immer noch genauso abenteuerlustig wie am Anfang. Doch was kostet ein Leben als Vollzeitreisende auf einem Boot? Wovon leben wir? On May 21, 2023, I will turn 80. I plan to do a celebratory cruise in my sailboat “Carlita” around the whole of the Pamlico Sound. A distance of 500 nautical miles. It has been just over 10 years since I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. I never expected to make it to 80, let alone still have the desire or feel fit enough to attempt this cruise. I believe that Rock Steady Boxing has played a big part in that. I thought it would be good to try to give something back.
