The modern Catamarans are made for comfort and not so much for sailing, that means they project a very large beam surface and the anchor cannot be effective with more than 15 kts of Crossing wind. To make the anchor effective you must upgrade to maybe 50 kg witch is unrealistic for this kind of boats, so make sure you protect your leeward quarter with a round fender or even better a permanent fender that can protect from any kind of accidental touch to the dock during your backing as well.

►Kinetic Catamarans - A shipyard where carbon is king! ►Kinetic Catamarans was founded in 2018 by two boaters with equal passion for sailing and the marine industry, Bob Hayward, a property developer, and Leon Scheepers, a South African boat builder. In fact, Kinetic is an American company with its shipyard based in Knysna, South Africa. The aim was to build high-end cruising catamarans in carbon, following in the wake of the iconic Gunboat, yet to remain accessible in terms of sailing expertise required. The first model they launched was the Kinetic 62 (presented at Annapolis in 2019), followed by the 54 two years later. Both catamarans are designed by Simonis Voogd Design BV. On deck, the two helm stations - one on each hull - and the absence of a rigid bimini are striking. The principle is to enjoy beautiful sensations at the helm. A removable cover can nevertheless be fitted.
