this one time my mother-in-law explained why she never went to the beach in Hawaii even though they live so close. She told me the Hawaiian Beaches were "cold and dirty" hahaha. My flabbers were gasted! Because Hawaiian beaches are the best BUT she had previously lived in the Philippines where the sand is white and the water is warm, so the Hawaii beaches, to her, were lackluster. If we want to psychoanalyze this (which I do, obviously because I'm me) then we can pick an angle: Growing and watching perspectives change with time and experience? The importance of retaining the ability to see beauty in all places even as we age; and the reality of how difficult that can be? Me turning into not only my mother but also my mother-in-law lol? The metaphor of a beautiful beach like this experiencing highs and lows of beauty? The metaphor of that beauty being such a determining factor of it's perceived worth? Go ahead and muddle your brain with philosophical musings, I can always use the company in that regard lmao
