In an effort to help, we’ve created a series of “Bite Sized Lessons” taken straight out of our textbooks – Sailing Made Easy and Coastal Cruising Made Easy. In this lesson we take a look at who has the right of way as two sailboats approach each other; one on starboard tack, the other on port tack.

Jeanneau 36 Prestige https://www.scanboat.com/en/17432521 Jeanneau is a French boatyard in Les Herbiers , which has produced yachts since 1957. The founder was Henri Jeanneau, a hardware store owner, who began by producing power boats. Jeanneau specializes in monohulls, but it created a specialist multihull line, Lagoon catamarans. Jeanneau and Lagoon became part of Groupe Beneteau in 1995

Last week I visited the ARES Shipyard in Turkey. If you have ever seen the documentary video I produced there last year, you will know that they have built a solid reputation for constructing military craft and are now offering an eye catching 62m super sailing yacht called SIMENA. My friends and colleagues Deniz Kaymaz and Sean McCarter from Northrop & Johnson represent the yacht for sale. Can’t wait to go back in the summer and film the sea trials!!!
