We had a break in the weather, so we decided to head off to Long Island. Although we had originally planned to head to the Ragged Islands, it's perhaps too early in the winter season to do so. The periodicity of the weather events down here is every week or so and the wind coming next Monday would have been a challenge in the Ragged Islands. There's so few anchorages with protection from winds out of the West. Winds were light and variable. We were mostly on a broad reach or run all day. We used every sail. Once we made the turn to starboard back to the Bahamas Bank, we dropped the main, the gennaker and got out the Oxley Levante Parasail. Love that sail. It's so fun to fly. So, we'll stay here for a bit and head back to George Town, Bahamas and wait out the next blow. Hopefully we can make it over to Dean's Blue Hole, but we'll have to rent a car for the day.

Today was one of those days with a bit of everything. It started windy and quite rough. During the night I had adjusted the sails to make it a bit easier to sleep, which helped, but also pushed us a little off course. Worth it for the rest. The tricky part is the wind is coming from exactly where we want to go. So the options were basically southeast, or northwest… none of them ideal. Anything with south or west in it feels wrong right now, but that’s what we had to work with. So we zigzagged a bit. Back and forth, trying to gain something, but not really making much headway. At least we were moving. Then at some point, the wind dropped. And honestly… it felt amazing. A proper break. The boat calmed down, everything softened, and for a moment it was just peaceful. But then it died completely. Which meant- time to charge the batteries. So we did. Had an amazing dinner, got ready to charge again… and then the alternator stopped working. So now the batteries aren’t charging. And the day ends with me back in the engine bay, trying to figure out what’s going on. Not exactly how I imagined finishing the day… but here we go again. 🌊 ⚓ Life on the Showgirl is my journey toward one of the toughest solo sailing races on the planet: the Golden Globe Race — sailed solo, non-stop, and without modern technology. **We flew to the middle of nowhere and camped under my airplane.**🔥 With just a wing tent, a campfire, and some steaks, my friends and I set up for the ultimate backcountry camping trip. We fished, cooked over an open flame, and woke up to a thick, unexpected fog that made it seem like we might not make it out. ➤ Gear used: Tent under the wing, campfire grill, fishing rods, and a Cessna (or your actual aircraft model). ➤ Pilots: Austin Lankford + friends ➤ Location: Remote backcountry airstrip (or drop location if you want to include it) If you’ve ever dreamed of airplane camping, flying off the grid, or just unplugging for a night with friends, this video is for you. 👍 Like, comment, and subscribe for more skydiving, flying, and real-life aviation adventures! 📸 Follow me on Instagram: [your handle] ✈️ More aviation content here: [your channel link or playlist] #AirplaneCamping #BushFlying #BackcountryFlying #PilotVlog #AviationAdventure #FlyingCamping #FoggedIn #CampingUnderTheWing #BestDaySinceYesterday
