Primetime - Harlequin shrimp

Have you ever seen the Harlequin Shrimp? These shrimps only grow about 5 cm long. But don't let the size fool you, they are capable of hunting preys much bigger than them. Their favourite food are the tube feet and other soft tissues of sea stars. As you can see in this video, the struggle of both the shrimps and the sea star, an amazing encounter during our season in Thailand last year. In front of the old town of Hvar, are the Paklinksi islands. It’s only half an hour of sailing, so you can actually see the islands already when you are in harbor of Hvar. We anchored in between 2 of the small islands (it’s an archipelago of 18 islets). You could smell the scent coming from the dense pine forests from the uninhabited small islands. "Paklina" means "tar", and in this case refers to the pine resin once used to coat ships that was harvested on these islands in front of Hvar. We flew with our drone over the islands and you can see the beautiful colors of the Adriatic sea.

The bowmen and woman are a made of tuff stuff. Life at the pointy end of any yacht is never dull, from call the distance to the start to setting up for sail changes they are always on the go. Light, fast on there feet and always their to figure any issue that you get into make the bow man or woman one of if not the most valuable members of any yacht racing crew. When you get a hold of a good bowman be sure to feed them just enough beer after each race to keep the sharp for the next days racing and keen enough to come back for more. This was a bottom up boats Mumm 36 memory for the the annual frosties series on Strangford lough.
