Direkt neben der bekannten Kugelbake liegt ein Ort, den viele Besucher übersehen. Die Geschichte des Fort Kugelbake reicht bis ins 19. Jahrhundert zurück. Es wurde zum Schutz der Elbmündung errichtet, im Laufe der Zeit weiter ausgebaut und erlebte beide Weltkriege. Heute ist es ein historisches Denkmal und erinnert an die bewegte Vergangenheit Cuxhavens.
