Whether you were looking at the front or the back of the fleet, the Indian Ocean showed its teeth this week. A series of major low pressure systems were piling on the pressure for all, both mentally and physically. From damaged gear to broken boats, this was a week where the conditions were intimidating as the strong winds and wild sea state took their toll. But this is still a race and key tactical decisions needed to be made. And despite the intimidating conditions, the front runners made some punchy , high risk calls. This was a week of broken boats, big gambles and extraordinary tactics.

Lo so, questo non è un post per tutti. Il mondo potrebbe dividersi tra amanti degli animali e non. Tra amanti dei cani e amanti dei gatti. Stasera che tu faccia parte degli uni o degli altri, potrai capire di cosa parliamo. Pensaci un secondo. Un esserino peloso. Piccolo, ma rotondo. Delicato. Curioso. Affamato a qualsiasi ora del giorno, in cerca di coccole in qualsiasi ora del giorno. Ecco. Aggiungiamo che vivevamo insieme. Che ogni risveglio era con lei. Che andare a dormire era con lei. Che un film era con lei. Abbiamo preferito, per il suo bene, evitarle un viaggio così mosso, sheckerato, imprevedibile. Così è rimasta dai miei, dove sono cresciuto, in un luogo che già conosceva. Sono passati i giorni, i mesi e da poco possiamo dire anche l'anno. E ora, dopo così tanto tempo, siamo di nuovo insieme. Un gatto è un animale indipendente. Quando dà affetto è perché lo vuole davvero condividere (o richiede semplicemente cibo e Mia questo sa farlo in grande stile?). Oggi abbiamo davvero fatto il pieno. Noi e lei. Ci mancavamo e ce lo siamo detti. Ci siamo ritrovati e lo abbiamo celebrato insieme?? Da domani tornerà un pezzetto peloso di questo viaggio. Ma oggi la gloria e i riflettori andavano a lei?? Made it. Wished I could have sailed but was so exhausted day one that I didn't feel like putting the mast up for two days--which was fortunate because conditions when leaving Monroe Harbor would have made it impossible to lower the mast safely.
