From the icy waters of Antarctica to the tropical Pacific, MARLIN has proven her strength and versatility. After covering over 60,000 miles, her current owners entrusted us with a comprehensive refit at KM Yachtbuilders. In 2024, MARLIN emerged with an extended keel, a sandblasted hull, a fully refitted deck and mast, and updated navigation systems. We also modernized the interior with upgrades including a stainless steel countertop, new ceilings, and floors, while adding solar panels for improved energy efficiency. We have a close encounter with large illegal Chinese fishing boats (poachers) while sailing in heavy seas 150 miles off the coast of Uruguay during a winter storm in the South Atlantic Ocean. The fishing boats were later pursued by the Uruguay Navy and Coast Guard, caught, and arrested. These boats were maneuvering dangerously and aggressively on a collision course with our sailboat, in heavy seas and low visibility, during a southern ocean storm, while sailing at night, in disregard of international navigational rules, and with improper AIS signals. The longest of three 100+ metre yachts built simultaneously by Benetti at its Italian facilities, the 108-metre flagship FB275 departed Benetti’s yard in Livorno on July 26, 2019. Featuring exterior design and décor from the British RWD studio, her interior design is from the drawing boards of Benetti’s in-house design team. With a steel hull, aluminium superstructure and a naval architecture by Pierluigi Ausonio, the 108-metre FB275 is the longest Giga yacht ever to be delivered by Benetti.
