A baby humpback is tucked up next to mom as they swim past. Unbeknownst to me, there was also an escort male. He emerged from the murk and swam between me and the mom with her baby! He actually scared the crap out of me. The water was so murky I couldn't see him coming.

Years of living on the water, and we still get this excited when dolphins appear. 🐬 Sailors have long considered dolphins to be a good omen— a sign of protection, safe passage, and good fortune at sea. Whether that’s folklore or fact, it’s hard not to believe in a little magic when they choose to swim alongside you. Some things never lose their wonder. 💙 #boating #boatlife #travel #marinelife #dolphin #oceanlife
