We sail on the good ship Saracen, a Beneteau Oceanis 473 from 2006. Out journey started in Scotland in early 2023 and our ultimate goal is to sail around the globe …..slowly. We make these videos mostly for family and friends and to create a record of our adventures for ourselves so that we can look back at them later in life, were not in it to make money (way to hard). With over 100 boats on the start line everyone was fighting for air shortly after the start, with the tide coming in all day it paid to get right early to find both clear air and some relief from the stronger tide out in the main channel. On the way back in the trick was to find the deepest part of the channel to ensure you were in maximum tide to increase your speed over ground. Things were still tight as we made it down to the Harbour Turning mark off Cork City. A checky 1720 slide inside one of our competitors when the did not have room which gave us few more seconds back from Control-J as we battled to move up the standings on Day 3 of Volvo Cork week 2024 The team at Bottom Up Boats hope you like this short clip from our week of racing at Volvo Cork Week 2024
