A strong start today for the 49er teams at the Olympic qualifier in Lanzarote. Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove Team Dickson Waddilove 49er Ireland topped the Day 1 leader-board with Ryan Seaton and Séafra Guilfoyle Out2Win Ryan & Séafra placing an 11-8-8 for the day. Conditions off Playa Blanca in the straits between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura were very unpredictable in the fresh trade-wind conditions with added ocean swell. “It was very tricky with the wind coming off the mountains so a ‘head out of the boat’ day but all-in-all, a great start to the regatta,” commented James O’Callaghan, Irish Sailing’s Performance Director. “There’s a long way to go in this regatta but we couldn’t have asked for a better start.” We'll be posting updates here daily. Our yachts are built with ease of ownership in mind, and this is why, if you need to remove a hidden deck fitting we’ve attached, there will be GRP packing around the nuts below the deck. Not only does this prevent any ingress of water around the fitting, it means that any bolt or machine screw can be removed and replaced on your own, and without having to remove any of the interior. Anyone who has unscrewed a bolt, and heard the tell-tale clatter of a nut falling off, will know the sinking realisation that a quick job has now become a long job. The headlining and possibly parts of the interior will need to be removed to access the bolt. We never want that to happen to you. There may be times when deck fittings need to be repaired or replaced.
