► Full article in Multihulls World N194: https://www.multihulls-world.com/articles-catamaran-trimaran/catamaranscup-34-charter-catamarans-setting-out-from-athens ► Held for the past 13 years out of Athens, Greece, the Catamaranscup was the brainchild of Ioannis Kourounis, a man who is anything but a stranger to the Greek boating scene, having founded the Istion Yachting charter company in 1992, which has become the market leader in the country. Ioannis was one of the very first to invest in cruising catamarans, and then back in 2010, this visionary set up a cruising regatta/flotilla to coincide with the end of the season. To follow this event, which brought together no less than 34 catamarans and 300 crew (a record!), we accompanied the Excess Catamarans team aboard an Excess 14. The Anchor Hitch is a super knot which tightens on itself when load is applied. It is really simple to tie, all you need is two round turns. One over the top of the item you are securing your rope to and the second one on top of the first. The Anchor hitch will tighten on it self making it hard to undo after load has been applied, making it a great option for permanently securing your rope to an object. Adding the bight when you finish the anchor hitch makes it a lot easier to undo. The additional width of rope used to finish it with the bight is easy pulled out via the tail of the rope. If you are looking for a more details video to learn this not why not check out our long form version showing you how to tie an Anchor Hitch on a Bight. https://youtu.be/XO3rcZkDNWs If you are looking to learn additional options to secure your rope to a fixed object why not check out our fender knot play list which has a variety of options for you to consider.
