Sailing out of Malta was supposed to be simple… until we realized we’d broken all three classic sailing rules in one go. Leaving on a Friday, bringing bananas on board, and, yes… supposedly no women on departure day. Do sailors still believe this stuff? Who knows — but it made for one unforgettable exit from Malta. "The Columbia Carbon 32 is a lifting keel boat so that allows us to trailer the boat home from long races - you don't have to sail it! The keel lifts vertically (through the window on the cabin roof) with a winch that drops into place on the boat so you don't have to sail with the lifting mechanism in place which saves weight."
