For us, the potential loss in speed is unnoticeable and a very cheap price to pay for knowing that we have a source of energy that works regardless of clouds or if it’s in the middle of the night. And except from having to clean it from sargasso now and then, it doesn’t require anything and you don’t notice it’s there. For offshore sailing I would say it makes absolute sense to have something like this to take the stress of battery charging off your mind.
