Its a beautiful day and we are having a bit of lunch on our way to Sydney Australia. This is our first major cruise shortly after launching. The boat has a temporary mast just over 6m long that we made up ourselves from 2 pieces of mast section, sleeved in the middle and erected on the beach at Southwest Rocks. We used 6 hand swagged wires.
Experience a sailing holiday aboard his traditional gaff rigged ketch that is one of a handful of remaining wooden British sailing trawlers. Built in 1895 Pilgrim and her iconic red sails were once part of a large fishing fleet operating out of Brixham in Devon. Today, as a classic charter vessel, the Brixham community still rallies around Pilgrim, with local crew, experienced and skilled volunteers performing maintenance and making the Pilgrim of Brixham operation run like clockwork. VentureSail is incredibly proud to have a hand in getting people aboard this historic vessel to not only experience how magnificently she sails, but also to see how passionate those that sail her are. Join Pilgrim on voyages around Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, or experience maritime festivals on this incredible vessel. https://venturesailholidays.com/ship/pilgrim-of-brixham/

A common expression heard among sailors in Colorado: "If you can sail here, you can sail anywhere!" I'd say it's primarily due to the quick-changing mountain weather and heavy winds that come up without warning. But the constantly swirling winds, steep mountain terrain, cold water, limited facilities, and lack of depth charts and hazard markings also make it a challenging place to sail. Several notable sailors hail from Colorado including world champion sailor Cameron Holland, Olympic competitors Chris Steinfeld, Erika Reineke, Sarah Ragle and Jack & Marcia Mathias and three-time America's Cup winner Josh Belsky (born in Rye, NY but relocated to Aspen, CO in 2008). Colorado is also home to the world's highest regatta, the Dillon Open Regatta held every August. Music: "Broken Bones" by Love Inc.
