We're Nick and Terysa and we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others. We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and have adventures! We moved onto our 38 foot monohull in 2014, sailed across the Atlantic twice, cruised the Caribbean, Bahamas and Europe, before buying a brand new 45 ft catamaran! We hope you enjoy what we do. Please subscribe, like and share.
This video illustrates the force of the wind while on a close hauled/close reach with one reef in the main and 2/3 of the Genoa out in 17 knots of wind with 23 knot gusts. Our speed over ground last week ranged from a comfortable 6.5 knots to 12.5 knots. As you may know, the Lagoon 450 is well known for its capability to sail in low wind and down wind. We also realized the 450's ability to provide a controlled and comfortable “banging up wind” experience during our 21 day trip around the BVIs.
Join us as we explore the thrilling world of competitive sailing, where boats clash in intense racing events like the Narrows Regatta 2025. On Strangford Lough, sailboats like the Elan 37 and J109 engage in close crosses, showcasing the skills of experienced sailors navigating port and starboard. The J109, a popular choice for sailing and racing, is often seen in action at events like the Narrows Regatta, where the IRC yachting rules apply. With its sleek design, the Elan yacht is a force to be reckoned with on the water, while the J109 sailboat demonstrates its capabilities in sailing life and sailing lifestyle. Redline Racing and other sailing channels often feature similar regatta racing events, where the goal is to outmaneuver opponents and cross the finish line first. For those who love boating and sailing, this video is a must-watch, offering a glimpse into the exciting world of sailing vlogs and competitive sailing on beautiful waterways like Strangford Lough. From bottom up boats to experienced sailors, everyone can appreciate the thrill of sailing and the camaraderie that comes with it. The team at bottom up boats hope you are enjoying the short clips from our 2025 racing season.
