Back to the boat.. After five weeks away—and a little longer neglecting the boat while working on my book project—I’m heading back out to Wahine. The manuscript is now submitted, and while I wait for feedback, it’s time to give the boat some overdue attention. First job: pump up the SUP and check for leaks, so I can get back and forth more easily while moving Wahine further up the inlet to tackle some boat projects. It also saves hauling Mitsu’s heavier tender back into the water. Nothing dramatic. Just the practical realities of life afloat—tools, tides, and a bit of trial and error. Good to be back. ► Since 1973, the La Rochelle Boat Show, known simply as “Le Grand Pavois” in French, has been THE not-to-be-missed afloat show on France’s Atlantic coast. With 750 boats on display and a record 80,000 visitors, the 2023 event (that ran from September 20 to 25, so a little earlier than usual) clearly benefited from the scheduled absence of the Paris Boat Show at the end of the year. According to the organizers, no more than 10 square feet was left available at the Port des Minimes! Of course, the Multihulls World team was there.
