A Humpback whale sings then breaches close enough for Nicole to feel the splash! Nicole filmed this while swimming in the open ocean near Moorea, French Polynesia (by Tahiti). Nothing to do with sailing but too good not to share with you right away... By the way, we were being guided by a whale expert who ensured we did not impact the whale in any way. Before this encounter we swam some distance away from a boat that was drifting with it's engine off, then allowed the whale to approach us (or not) on his own terms. Few Feels like a long time ago now March 26th 2019 the first sail aboard Alexander Hamilton - crew for the delivery trip my very good friend Dan, the very patient previous owner of Alexander Hamilton Ray Lymington and not forgetting one of the finest yacht photographer and filmmaker Alexis Andrews from Antigua. ( needless to say he had no influence on this video )
Numerous offshore racing trophies and naval architecture awards are what set Michael Peters Yacht Design apart from others. Their team designed a perfectly balanced hull on the Hinckley 35, optimized for speed and comfort. Peters included slightly wider chines and strakes to provide lift and stability at the higher speeds associated with outboard propulsion. The moderate transom deadrise on the Hinckley 35 and fine entry make her a joy to drive in a variety of conditions. On a hull optimized for outboard propulsion, 48 mph has never felt this good.
