What happens when fun, fast and simple meet in one easy-to-sail catamaran? We call it the Hobie Bravo, a boat that delivers big grins, great times and minimal fuss. The boat's rotomolded polyethylene hull encourages beaching and makes docking -- even on gusty days -- fully inconsequential. The Bravo's generously cut, square-top mainsail keeps you moving in mere zephyrs, but twists off in a breeze for power control. The unique A-frame rig is easy to step, and the boomless, roller-furling, multicolored Dacron mainsail makes shortening sail simple and safe. Perfect for "kids" of all ages.
From Atlantic gales that swept through the fleets, to weather forecasts that threatened to cause havoc, the start of the 2025 Transat Cafe L'Or was a challenging one for organisers and competitors alike. Despite threading their way through the heavy duty Autumn Atlantic conditions by amending courses and setting a mandatory pit stop for the Class 40s, all four fleets were working hard to negotiate conditions at both ends of the scale. So, while this Transatlantic double handed-classic is well known for being a tough one, this year the stress just kept coming. We take a look at how the first 8 days of racing played out across the fleets.
Here's what you need to know: Stockpiled inventory: During the pandemic, a massive amount of equipment and spare parts was overproduced and left sitting in warehouses - for 3 to 5 years in some cases. Aging without use: These items have been exposed to temperature fluctuations, humidity, dust, and natural material degradation. Electronics, batteries, rubber seals, and even metals can break down over time, even if unused. Risk of malfunction: You may be ordering what appears to be "new" equipment, but in reality, it's aged stock that often fails on first use. And warranties may not always cover this kind of damage. • Weak supply chain response: Returning or replacing a faulty item has become more difficult. Shipping delays are still common, logistics are overloaded, and tech support is under strain. What do you think - have you experienced this yourself recently?
