Unlike other popular Caribbean destinations, bareboat charters are not allowed in San Blas because of uncharted waters, hidden reefs, and a lack of reliable marine infrastructure such as marinas and supply stores. The more than 365 islands are often surrounded by coral reefs, making navigation risky without local knowledge.
