GTFO plan - Our 1984 Catalina 30' under sail There is no better feeling than flying with the wind on a sailboat! This is a short clip from our current "practice" boat. We currently own a 1984 Catalina 30’ monohull sailboat on the Chesapeake Bay. This is our practice boat and is not designed for the open ocean and too small for full-time, liveaboard life. Our future boat will be a Neel 51' trimaran! We want to share our GTFO plan of retiring early to explore the world. We plan to retire June 1, 2023, Dennis’s mandatory retirement date when he will have served 30 years in the Army. We plan to buy a Neel 51’ trimaran (http://www.neel-trimarans.com/modele_bateau/neel-51/). A trimaran is much safer than a catamaran, more comfortable than a monohull, faster to escape bad weather, and spacious to accommodate our Brady Bunch, and possibly you! We plan to name her Just a Kiss which describes our wonderful 2nd date back in 2015. Learn with us as we prepare to GTFO and sail the world! Kisses, Ann & Dennis

It was an exhilarating showdown for the opening race of the 2025 season in the Glen class on the stunning Strangford Lough! With the sun blazing and a perfect breeze sweeping across the bay, the fleet was tightly bunched just before the race began. Boats on Starboard Tack charged toward the pin end of the line, while over half the fleet on port tack raced headlong towards them, setting the stage for an electrifying start to the sailing season. In the end, two boats turned back after a second starting signal blared, revealing that some boats had crossed the line early. One crew was left wishing they hadn’t returned as they learned at the bar post-race that only one boat was actually over the line! Can you guess which boat it was? Drop your guesses in the comments for the team at Bottom Up Boats!

The Mumm 36 - Go To Red made some magical memories for the Bottom Up Boats crew. The boat really came alive whenever we could get the A-Sail up in a bit of pressure. The boat was touching 10 knots of boats speed in gust up to 16 knots on the beautiful sunny day on Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland. Flat water and breeze really aloud the Mumm 36 to get her bow out of the water and jump up on the plane. The it was perfect condition for the yacht with the crew working together to ensure the sails were trimmed to perfection to keep the boat flat while reaching as the tighten up to make the bottom mark. The team at bottom up boats hope you enjoyed this Mumm 36 Memory, where you can become a skipper for a minute by coming onboard Go to Red. Go to Red was a great boat which creation many memories which the crew and hopefully you look back on fondly for many years to come.
