This little guy was bobbing around our boat this morning for at least an hour - FAST ASLEEP!! I touched him a couple of times as he came right up against the sugar scoop and was amazed at just how hot his little flipper "solar panel" was! Seals float around like this with their flippers out of the water in the sunshine, as a way of warming up, so I thought that his flipper would obviously be warmer than our 13 degreeC water but was really surprised by just how hot it was. He was totally oblivious to my touching him over and over - super relaxed and fast asleep.

Reversing the sailboat into our anchorage in Ardilistry Bay, Isle of Islay, Scotland – one of those quiet, almost deserted bays that make sailing worth it. This is the part of liveaboard sailing you don't always see: the evening maneuver, setting the hook, switching off the engine.
