In this video, I fly Mira Slovak’s original Bücker Jungmann, a legendary German-designed WWII-era biplane with an unbelievable backstory. From Cold War defection to aerobatic stunts, this flight is packed with cinematic footage, vintage aircraft vibes, and a slice of aviation history you’ve probably never heard. Miroslav “Mira” Slovak was a Czech Airlines pilot who hijacked his own plane in 1953 to flee the Soviet regime, eventually becoming a U.S. citizen, air race champion, and aerobatic pilot. His story is straight out of a movie—and now, his historic airplane lives on. We took this 1930s warbird to the skies for a day of vintage aerobatics, tailwheel flying, and breathtaking air-to-air shots. We looked at other sailing channels such as Wicked Salty, Satori, Jessica and Ryan, Catamaran Impi, MJ Sailing, Happy Together, Sailing Uma, Sailing Yacht Ruby Rose, Zingaro, Miss Lone Star, Sailing Doodles, Drenched, Lucky Fish gets Away, RAN Sailing, Out Chasing Star, Follow the Boat, Rigging Doctor, Sailing Lady Africa, Abandon Comfort, and many others to find our answers and solutions, whilst we prepared our yacht in Cape Town, South Africa. SISU (Finnish concept) is a grim, gritty, white-knuckle form of courage in situations where success is against the odds. Taking action against the odds and displaying courage and resoluteness in the face of adversity, in other words, deciding on a course of action and then sticking to that decision even despite repeated failures.
