5 days until I sail solo, nonstop around the world. FIVE. DAYS. 😳 At this point, Showgirl has people working on her from every direction while I’m running around trying to make sure nothing gets forgotten. Today, another few boxes got ticked. My grab bag was inspected, the autopilot was sealed, the emergency water was sealed… and we keep going. Because somehow, even with only five days left, there is still SO much to do. But there’s something strangely comforting about looking around the marina right now. Everyone is doing exactly the same thing. Boats open, tools everywhere, people fixing things, carrying things, checking lists and racing against the exact same clock. We’re all about to leave alone. Quando si vivono esperienze così piene e immersive il tempo sembra scorrere a un ritmo diverso. Non più veloce, non più lento, solo diverso. Le giornate sembrano sovrapporsi l’una all’altra, i momenti si fondono per creare una singola immagine riassuntiva del viaggio. Così come gli altri due giorni abbiamo navigato, per lo più a motore, controvento e controcorrente, per altre 130 miglia. L’unico vero cambiamento è stato veder scorrere territorio americano alla nostra sinistra, mentre costeggiavamo Porto Rico. Fino al tramonto non è avvenuto niente di significativo. Ma con il buio si svegliano le tenebre che portiamo dentro, e così anche le nostre paure. Temporali notturni e collisioni nella notte sono due tra gli eventi che abbiamo scampato per un soffio. Lo vedremo in modo più approfondito nella parte 2 di questo giorno! A presto C.
