► A not-to-be-missed event for boating enthusiasts on the U.S. East Coast, the Annapolis Boat Shows attract some 100,000 visitors every year. The event is in fact two separate boat shows held in the same spot, but a week apart. The Powerboat Show, dedicated just to powerboats (417 units on display), was held from October 3 to 6, followed by the Sailboat Show from October 10 to 14. It’s the latter of the two that we’ve selected for you. The event provided an opportunity to take stock of how the multihull sector is taking hold in the United States: we counted 56 two- or three-hull units compared with 96 monohulls, totaling nearly 30% of the offer. All over the world there are different spots where whale sharks congregate in large numbers to feed on the nutrient rich waters. Just off the coast of Cancun in Mexico is one of the largest whale shark congregations sites in the world—where you can literally see hundreds of these gentle giants slowing swimming about on the surface as they siphon up their meal. Since they are right on the surface the best way to approach the sharks is by snorkeling!
