A Delicious Breakfast on Proizd near Vela Luka (Korcula). The sun peeks over the horizon, casting a golden glow on the Adriatic Sea. Your vacation on Korcula Island stretches before you, filled with adventures waiting to be had. But first things first - breakfast! Unveiling the Jewel of Korčula: A Sailor's Guide to Proizd Island Croatia's coastline is a treasure trove of islands, each with its own charm. But nestled off the west coast of Korčula lies a hidden gem: Proizd. This tiny island offers a slice of paradise for sailors seeking a tranquil escape and breathtaking scenery. As you set sail towards Proizd, keep your eyes peeled for dolphins and playful seabirds. The crystal-clear waters will soon reveal a tapestry of turquoise hues, a sign of the island's pristine environment. Beaches Galore: A Sailor's Playground Proizd's true beauty lies in its beaches. Unlike its larger neighbors, Proizd boasts a variety of coves and shores, each catering to a different taste. Here's what you can expect: Bili Bok: This beach is the undisputed star. Pristine white pebbles contrast with the impossibly blue water, creating a picture-perfect scene. Be aware that strong currents and cooler water temperatures are common here, making it ideal for experienced swimmers. Široka: Craving a more relaxed experience? Široka offers a gentle entry into the calm, shallow waters. Perfect for families with young children or those seeking a leisurely swim. Lokve: This secluded cove provides a haven for those wanting to escape the crowds. The rocky terrain offers excellent snorkeling opportunities, with a vibrant underwater world waiting to be explored. Island Secrets: Beyond the Beaches Proizd's charm extends beyond its stunning beaches. As you explore the island by land or dinghy, keep an eye out for: Hidden coves: The island's jagged coastline hides many secret coves, perfect for dropping anchor and enjoying a picnic lunch in complete privacy. Vineyards and olive groves: The island's interior boasts rolling hills dotted with vineyards and olive groves. Inquire with the locals about purchasing fresh, locally produced olive oil or perhaps a bottle of Proizd's own wine. The village of Proizd: This tiny village offers a glimpse into the island's laid-back lifestyle. Enjoy a fresh seafood meal at a waterfront restaurant or grab a coffee and mingle with the friendly locals. Tips for a Perfect Proizd Sail Plan your anchoring: Due to strong currents and limited space, plan your anchoring in advance, especially during peak season. Bring provisions: The island has limited options for shopping. Pack plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen for your day trip. Respect the environment: Proizd is a haven for natural beauty. Help preserve it by practicing responsible tourism - avoid littering and be mindful of the local flora and fauna. With its breathtaking scenery, secluded coves, and laid-back atmosphere, Proizd Island offers a unique escape for sailors. So, set sail, soak up the sun, and discover this hidden gem of the Adriatic.

Two new things today. First, a replacement for our much abused Makita drill which has given up. The grip on the chuck for changing drills was already worn to the point of being very hard to tighten or release, the motor has been struggling for a while too. So new, more powerful one with harder wearing metal parts. Plus the cutest little kettle for our Refleks stove. Now we don't need to use electricity (if we have the diesel stove on) to make tea/coffere or do the washing up :-) We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters. Our free Sustainable Sailing book is at: https://sustainablesailing.codeberg.page/ Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc).
