Day 13. My last day at sea. I saw land in the morning, but it still took until sunset to finally arrive. Funny how that works. After nearly two weeks looking at nothing but ocean, land suddenly feels both incredibly close and impossibly far away. Today felt like the end of one adventure and the beginning of another. The crossing is done. The lessons have been learned. The boat has been tested. And now the focus shifts completely. From here, it’s all about preparing Showgirl. Finishing the projects, solving the problems, and getting everything ready for what comes next. Because this crossing was never really the goal. It was one more step toward the bigger dream. Soulmates has many custom touches, but the interior one that’s unique is the gimbled stove. The stove and oven are part of a unit that includes pot lockers on either side. The stove/oven/pot locker unit has a circular bottom that rides on halyard sheeves. Not only does the stove stay level, but the tops of the pot lockers on both sides of the stove stay level too. When the boat is heeling, the tops of the pot lockers become level surfaces that the cook can use for pouring a cup of coffee or plating dinner. I have never seen a set up like this on any other boat.

The New York Yacht Club American Magic sailing squad was confirmed on June 23 as the team launched their second AC40 in Barcelona following their relocation from Pensacola, FL. The squad includes Olympic Gold Medalists Tom Slingsby and Paul Goodison, Olympic Bronze Lucas Calabrese, U.S. Olympians Andrew Campbell and Riley Gibbs, and Etchell World Champion Michael Menninger.
