May 15th The Swift Trawler 47 is returned back to the water, refueled, provisioned and prepared for a May 16th departure for a straight shot run to San Francisco. We have to give a warm thank you to Ray Cox at Giddings Boat Works for bumping us to the front of the line to get us operational in time to beat a weather front closing in on the West Coast. The weather reports were not favorable with Gale wind forecast and a large storm front to pass. This weather will certainly test the capabilities of the Swift Trawler 47. Departure is planned for slack tide around 12:00. The team on J109 GTR owned the start of race 3 of the 2024 Narrows Series, with light wind and the clearance make set on the leeward side of the transit of the starting line the crew on Going to Red punched out into the tide around 15 second before the gun went which helped them build speed in the tide and build a solid lead only a few seconds into the race. The team at bottom up boats hope you are enjoying some short bits from the 2024 racing season on Strangford lough.

One of the most time consuming tasks as a sailing cruiser is grocery shopping. First we have to get to a store (walk or take a bus) and then we have to get all the food, beverages, supplies on to the dinghy, then on to the boat, and then put away. It’s an all day event!
