► A not-to-be-missed event for boating enthusiasts on the U.S. East Coast, the Annapolis Boat Shows attract some 100,000 visitors every year. The event is in fact two separate boat shows held in the same spot, but a week apart. The Powerboat Show, dedicated just to powerboats (417 units on display), was held from October 3 to 6, followed by the Sailboat Show from October 10 to 14. It’s the latter of the two that we’ve selected for you. The event provided an opportunity to take stock of how the multihull sector is taking hold in the United States: we counted 56 two- or three-hull units compared with 96 monohulls, totaling nearly 30% of the offer. Out approach to the nav buoys and the St. Marys inlet with Cumberland island (famous for the wild horses on island) after our 1474 mile passage from Antigua--most of the last 31 hours were in a Storm with winds at 40 knots, 4-6 meter seas and we blew out the mainsail just after dawn this day. We were happy to see the inlet. This was the first trip to the U.S. for Sloan (Antiguan) [ Antigua to St. Thomas to St.Marys Georgia, USA passage short reels ]
