Welcome to Day 2 of our Christmas calendar! ЁЯОД Today, weтАЩre diving into the galleyтАФour compact yet highly functional kitchen on Vela. тЫ╡ Placed on the starboard side, just behind the nav station, our galley is designed for safety and efficiency: тЬи Longitudinal layout ensures we can cook securely even when the boat heels. тЭДя╕П Big fridge and freezer for all our provisions. ЁЯФе Gas stove for cooking up delicious meals, even mid-passage. ЁЯТж Double sink with 3 water outlets: Pressurized fresh water (hot/cold) Manual fresh water pump Manual saltwater pump (great for rinsing without wasting fresh water). On the opposite side, we have a spacious prepping area, and while we once had a microwave, weтАЩve replaced it with storage and an espresso machineтАФbecause we appreciate a good cup of coffee! тШХ What would you cook in this galley? Drop your ideas or questions in the comments! ЁЯСЗ ЁЯОе See you tomorrow for the next part of our boat tour! Olin J. Stephens is said to have described COURAGEOUS as a cross between a New York 32 and an International 8-Metre; who are we to argue. This entrancing and fabulously authentic yacht does indeed have all the good looks and attributes of the legendary NY32s - stretched to the length of an 8-Metre. Her large, exceptionally comfortable and deep (and therefore safe) cockpit confirms her origins as Arthur J. IselinтАЩs Long Island Sound daysailer, but her spacious yet intimate accommodation and undoubted sailing ability and provenance hints of much longer cruising possibilities. And COURAGEOUSтАЩs offshore racing past and recent form in #classic #regattas confirms her as the most beautiful all-rounder.
In this video weтАЩre sailing upwind in 35+ knots of breeze in Johnstone Strait during the VanIsle360 race with a double-reefed main sail and storm jib. A crew member is on the foredeck securing the #3 jib we had previously been flying in the short video https://youtube.com/shorts/VRAEp8M49Y4, but ripped in half. The head literally ripped right off. He is wearing a harness and tether! The sky is completely blue, but everybody is still completely soaked from the spray. Lots of sails were destroyed in that leg, including the #3 jib that is now on the foredeck.
