Our friend Solo takes us on a barefoot hike to one of his gardens. This is not like the gardens you're used to seeing. To make their garden, first they burn, then cut the trees by axe. the wood is then used as a retainer to support the steep slopes from erosion. Due to the constant manual labour required to maintain these wild gardens, garden houses are often constructed using the felled wood to create shelter for cooking, resting/sleeping and of course chewing Betel Nut 😉 Unlike modern farming methods, there is no use of fertiliser, pesticides, herbicides, irrigation or electricity. Instead, rain, sun, and the native soil are all the plant needs. It all becomes evident when you taste the difference in the produce. This is true organic farming not just a marketing gimmick like is often the case in Western societies. Last year 2021 we had an absolutely amazing sailing season. We sailed from the Solent along the south coast of England to the Isles of Scilly and back to the Solent. This is just a little taste. [EN] After spending a long time anchored in Culatra, we realized that a swivel was necessary. It’s not something you always need, but in places where we stay for longer periods, it makes a big difference. So we started researching to find a swivel that was stronger than our chain and shackle, so we wouldn’t have a weak point in the system. That’s when we found the Mantus S2, perfect for our setup. Its working load is 2 tons, which means it’s much stronger than our chain. The S2 sits between the chain and the anchor, allowing the anchor to rotate freely and preventing twists that can weaken the system. It comes disassembled, and you put it together yourself during installation by following the provided steps. Made of 316 stainless steel, it’s super durable and has made our anchoring setup even better! ✨ Less twisting, more security, and more peace of mind to enjoy life aboard Utopia!
