There’s always an intriguing find on every dive, especially when you dive around the #reefs of the #CoralTriangle in #Komodo and #RajaAmpat. The coral reefs are home to many different animals, and they all live together in harmony. #Fish of all colors, shapes, and sizes swim around like living jewels. #Seaturtles move gracefully through the water, and octopuses hide by changing their appearance to match their surroundings. But there's more to it. Even the tiniest creatures, too small to see, are vital to this underwater ecosystem. Sponges, soft corals, and #anemones provide homes and food for many other animals, like #crabs and snails. Every time you go diving on a coral reef, you can discover something new. It reminds us how important it is to take care of these amazing places, so they can continue to astound us and be home to all these wonderful creatures for a long time. So, please don’t touch them as the corals can break easily and they take a very long time to grow back. Before we bought Adhara and became liveaboards we went on a sailing charter in Lanzarote for a week to try out if we could imagine living on a sailboat and how I’d feel about sailing in general. We did that in November of 2019 and a funny story about it is that I absolutely hated the first day! 😆 I couldn’t imagine why someone would actually enjoy sailing. I was scared, I got wet, I was freezing and I felt seasick for 6 hours straight and had no clue what a sheet is and what wind angle means. Apparent or true wind… wait, what? You guys can’t imagine the disappointment in Jans's eyes when I told him „no way in hell are we doing that“ 😂 Spoiler: the story has a good ending 😉 The second day we had the most beautiful weather and sailed around La Graciosa and Montaña Clara. I fell in love with the otherworldly landscape and raw beauty of these islands and enjoyed the gentle Atlantic swell, the idea of sailing as a means to explore this beautiful world we live on grew on me!
