A heavy wind on the course saw Svea cross the line in fourth place in both the fourth and fifth race of the championship today, just eight seconds behind Lionheart on corrected time in the last race of the day. It's been a thrill to see her strength on the course in her first season of racing, with the careful work by our team who launched her this year paying dividends.
Getting up while it’s still dark feels impossible — every single time. But the when I step into the cockpit and take over the watch, it’s like the world hits pause just for me. The silence. The stillness. The sky slowly shifting from black to gold. And honestly… the best part? Breakfast is whatever snack you grab first, because no one is there to judge. It’s the kind of magic you forget exists until you’re the only one awake to witness it. Morning watch isn’t just a duty. ✨It feels like a gift✨ Have you ever done a morning watch? What’s your favourite part — or what do you imagine it would be? #circumnavigation #sailing #cutedog #mediterranean #cruising #sailingdog #sailaway #sailinglife #liveaboard #sailingcouple #shortoftheday
► Full test to discover in Multihulls World N°203. ► The head-to-head between 38 and the 380 ultimately never took place, all down to the Mistral that was coming through a little too hard, blowing at over 30 knots early on our test day we’d scheduled out of Bonifacio. So, our boat tester Brieuc Maisonneuve got to sail aboard the new Lagoon 38 in lively conditions, but the 380 remained alongside the dock. His initial reaction: “We set sail in 20 knots, gusting 30. I found the catamaran very stable despite the very short sea, and the helm was very smooth. On the downside, I wasn’t so sure about the choice of a self-tacking jib: the sail is difficult to trim at points further off the wind and lacks power when sailing close to the wind, which can result in a slightly disappointing heading. As for the comfort on board, it is exceptional for the size of the boat, and the layout of the starboard hull is a real success.” ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Builder: Lagoon Architect: VPLP Design Exterior design: Patrick Le Quément Interior design: Nauta Design Length: 37’4” (11.38 m) Beam: 21’10” (6.65 m) Draft 4’2” (1.26 m) Air draft: 60’8” (18.48 m) Light displacement: 22,579 lbs (10.24 t) Mainsail: 599 sq ft (55.7 m²) Self-tacking jib: 237 sq ft (22 m²) Code 0: 581 sq ft (54 m²) Motors: 2 x 29 HP Fuel: 106 US gal (400 l) Water: 79 or 132 US gal (300 or 500 l) Berths: 6 to 10 CE category: A8/B12/C16/D20 ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! The Cobalt A40 is a new cruising boat model, and when boat review expert Brett Becker found it floating at the docks at the Miami boat show, he couldn't resist giving it the once-over. http://features.boats.com/boat-content/2014/03/2014-cobalt-a40-first-look-video/ For more boat videos, visit www.boats.com.
