Nu gör vi vår sista storhandling innan vi kastar loss och påbörjar seglingen över Stilla havet. Två fulla kundvagnar med färskvaror röcker i npgra veckor iallafall men kanske inte hela vägen fram. Tur vi har köpt burkmat sedan innan! Det känns nästan overkligt att nästa gång vi fyller kundvagnen kommer det att vara på andra sidan världens största ocean. J109 Going to Red was tacking in close quarters to the shore shortly after the start of the harbour race of Volvo Cork week 2024. With the tide rushing into Cork Harbour it paid to stick to the right to get relief from the in rushing tide. There are a couple of close crosses as the majority of the fleet tried to maximise the relief they got. Las jarcias firmes deben cambiarse en los barcos de vela a los diez años de uso. Su gran problema es el óxido que puede provocar la rotura de los terminales y la consecuente desarboladura del mástil. Esto es muy peligroso, ya que puede herir gravemente a los tripulantes. En esta ocasión le ha tocado al barco de Julio. Además de la jarcia, toca reparar a fondo tanto el enrollador de proa como el de popa.
