We want to share our GTFO plan of retiring early to explore the world on a Balance 482 catamaran. We plan to retire June 1, 2023, Dennis’s mandatory retirement date when he will have served 30 years in the Army. We currently own a 1984 Catalina 30’ monohull sailboat on the Chesapeake Bay. This is our practice boat and is not designed for the open ocean and too small for full-time, liveaboard life. We put non-refundable money to reserve our Balance 482 catamaran. I am sure you know how to tie the Clove Hitch in the Bight, but I'm going to add it to my channel anyway because I remember doing it the first time and it seemed like a magic trick. 🔹 This is a useful quick knot. You know those situations where you jump off onto the dock with a 🌬️ breeze pushing you off and there's no-one there to help? Well, slip one of these clove hitches over a bollard or post and you've got yourself a decent temporary hold. You can bang one out in seconds... 🔹Make sure the other end is tied to the boat though! 😉
