And we’re off! 🌎 Today marks the start of our passage across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Light winds made for a slow start, but nature put on a show—dolphins, small whales, and even turtles, some swimming upside down! We checked to make sure they were okay, and luckily, they were. With the wind dying, we’ll be motoring through the night, but a big highlight was testing our spinnaker setup for the first time. While heading down the coast, we were taken by surprise by calls on the VHF regarding a Prohibited Zone around Cape Canaveral. Apparently, we were scheduled to hit Cape Canaveral right at the same time they closed down the zones for transit. What!? What were the zones? Where were the zones? Were we in one!? We ultimately determined, using Starlink!!!, where the zones were and that ultimately we were fine...but, this was after we turned around 180º and added another 2-hours to our trip south. Oh Well.
