The Mumm 36 is a great boat to push hard downwind in a breeze. As soon as the wind gets above 15 to 18 knots you could easily get the boat up and planning on a broad reach or run. With the storm cloud blowing in rain and the blue sky shinning in the back ground the whole crew was on edge as the tried to soak deep at speed to make it around the bottom mark without the need for a risky gybe. With the waves almost breaking breaking as the sea way built we were easily touching 12 knots of boats speed as raced toward the bottom mark. This was another Mumm 36 memory for our days racing Go To Red on Strangford lough. A new option is to black anodize or powder-coat the majority of the aluminum and stainless steel fittings located around the boat. The mast, boom, cross-beam, longeron and seagull striker can also be wrapped in a carbon fiber vinyl. These were both first done on Hull 10, "Umbono" (Vision in Zulu) which was launched October 20, 2022. It looks great and provides a very bold look. We have decided not to go this route, but it does look really nice, especially with a non-white hull color! Want more?
